Jorge Villamizar

Nacido en Monteria, Colombia el 14 de Octubre de 1970.Musico, cantante y compositor lider de la extinta banda “Bacilos”. A la edad de 10 años su familia se muda a Ecuador. Sus influencias musicales incluyen a “The Beatles” y la musica folklorica de los Andes. Su madre le enseña a tocar guitarra y a los 18 años decide regresar a Colombia y se enrola en la Escuela Naval de Cartagena.

En su tiempo libre y como forma de distraccion comenzo a escribir canciones. Despues se muda a Londres, Inglaterra a estudiar Ciencias Politicas y estando en esa ciudad fue descubierto por Robi Jones quien lo invita a tocar en la banda “KIng Salsa”. Despues decide vivir en Miami, Florida y es aqui donde el proyecto “Bacilos” comienza de cierta forma a dar luz en el camino de Villamizar.

Warner Music Latina firma a Bacilos  y asi Jorge, al frente de la banda ve realizado su sueño.

Con exitos como “Sin Verguenza”, “Caraluna” y “Mi Primer Millon” entre 2002 y 2005 llegan a ser galardonados con 4 “Latin Grammys” haciendo de Jorge y a sus dos compañeros de Bacilos ya un grupo de renombre en la industria musical.

Segun la revista People en Español el grupo Bacilos se desintegra en 2007 y Jorge comienza a grabar su CD titulado “Jorge Villamizar”  En ese periodo de transicion a solista Jorge viajo por Paris, Bogota, Cartagena y Miami. El primer sencillo se llama “Ninguna” y ha tenido muy buena aceptacion desde su lanzamiento.

Jorge Villamizar ha escrito  canciones para Julieta Venegas (con quien recientemente se le vinculo sentimentalmente) y tambien para artistas como Paulina Rubio y Marc Anthony.

Aleks Syntek

From an early age he began to show his talent, and at the age of 11 he began composing his own music and lyrics. It was not until 1984 that his interest in music turned professional, and he assumed the stage name Aleks Syntek, (”Syntek” being a shorthand name for “sin teclados”, lit. “without keyboards;” the name was given by a friend from whom he had asked to borrow a keyboard).

In 1989, he composed the songs “Muévete a mi alrededor” (”Move in my surroundings”) and “Siénteme” (”Feel Me”) sung by Mexican artist Sasha Sokol.

In 1990, he wrote “Sacúdete” (”Shake Yourself”) and “Escapar de ti” (”Escape From You”) included on pop group Timbiriche’s album “10″.

The same year he formed a group called Aleks Syntek y la Gente Normal. His first album, “Hey tú!” (”Hey You!”), included the single “Unos quieren subir” (”Some want to rise”), as well as “Te quiero así” (”I Love You Like That”) sung with Sasha Sokol.

As of 2008, he is working on a crossover album for the English-speaking market. The album will consist of English versions of his past Spanish hits, such as “Duele El Amor” (Love Hurts) and “Intocable” (Untouchable).

In 2008, Aleks collaborated on song “Aquí Estoy Yo” with singers Luis Fonsi, David Bisbal and Noel Schajris, a song included on Latin Grammy Award-nominated album Palabras del Silencio by Luis Fonsi.

In August 30, 2009 he released a new single titled “Loca” also used as the main-theme for mexican telenovela Los Exitosos Pérez.
